The Ordinary Owner

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data The Ordinary Owner collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and the rules of the National Privacy Commission (NPC). We collect only what we need to teach and support you, and we never sell your data.
Your quick controls

Opt out anytime. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and the emails stop. You can also email us and we will remove you.

Delete your data. Email [email protected] with "delete my data" and we will erase your record, usually within 15 working days, unless a law requires us to keep specific records. No reason needed.

We never ask for sensitive data. We do not collect credit card numbers, medical records, or government IDs through our forms. Please do not send these to us. When you upload proof of payment, you may cover your own account number; we only need the reference number, amount, and date.

1. What this policy covers

It covers data you give us through our Readiness Check, opt-in forms, lead magnets, emails, community sign-ups, book orders, payment verification, and any program enrollment, as well as basic technical data collected when you use our pages. It does not cover third-party websites we may link to, which have their own policies.

We do not ask for government IDs, bank account numbers, passwords, or the special categories the law calls sensitive personal information (such as health, religion, or ethnicity) through the Readiness Check or our order forms. Please do not send these to us by email either.

If you give us another person's details so we can ship them a copy, please make sure they are fine with it. We use their details only to deliver that copy.

3. Why we process it, and our legal basis

Under Section 12 of the Data Privacy Act, we rely on the following bases:

  • Your consent, which you give by ticking the box on our forms, to send you your action plan, educational emails, and offers you can unsubscribe from at any time.
  • Our legitimate interests, to run and improve our education service, understand which content helps, and keep our systems secure, balanced against your rights.
  • Performance of a contract, when you order a book or enroll in a paid program, to verify your payment, ship your order, and give you the access you paid for.
  • Legal obligation, to keep the sales and tax records the law requires.

We use your data to give you your result and plan, to tailor guidance to your season and priority area, to send educational sequences you agreed to, to respond to your messages, and to keep records the law requires. We do not make automated decisions that produce legal effects about you; your Readiness Check result is educational guidance, not a decision about credit, lending, or approval.

4. Marketing and your control over it

You will only receive marketing emails if you asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to opt out. Unsubscribing stops marketing but does not delete records we must keep for legal or legitimate business reasons.

5. Who we share it with

We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf, under agreements that require them to protect it and use it only for our instructions. These Personal Information Processors currently include:

  • HighLevel (also shown as LeadConnector), our customer relationship and email platform, which stores your contact record and sends your emails.
  • HighLevel also hosts our order and payment pages and stores the files you upload, such as proof of payment.
  • Our delivery partner, the courier we use for your order, which receives the recipient's name, mobile number, and address to deliver it.
  • Meta Platforms, through the Meta Pixel on our pages, which records page views and form submissions so we can measure and improve our ads.

When you pay by GCash, Maya, BDO, BPI, or MariBank, that bank or e-wallet processes your payment under its own privacy policy. We see only what appears in our account records and the proof you send us.

We may also disclose data if required by law, by a lawful order, or to protect our rights, and to professional advisers under confidentiality. We do not sell your personal data.

6. Transfers outside the Philippines

Some of our processors store or handle data on servers outside the Philippines. Where that happens, we take steps intended to keep your data protected to a standard consistent with the Data Privacy Act, through the contracts and safeguards those providers offer. By using our forms and consenting, you understand your data may be processed abroad by these providers.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your data only as long as we need it for the purposes above. If you are on our email list, we keep your contact and result data while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period after, so we can honor your preferences. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove or anonymize it unless a law requires us to keep certain records (for example, tax or transaction records for enrolled students). Payment screenshots are deleted once your order is delivered and the payment is settled. Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

8. How we protect it

We use reasonable organizational, physical, and technical measures to protect your data, including limiting who can access it, using reputable platforms with their own security controls, and reviewing our practices. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach occurs that poses a real risk to you, we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.

9. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is processed.
  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct (rectify) data that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Object to processing, including direct marketing.
  • Erasure or blocking of your data in the circumstances the law allows.
  • Data portability, to obtain a copy of your data in a usable format.
  • Damages, if you suffer harm from a violation of your rights.
  • Lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. You may also contact the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.

10. Cookies and similar technology

Our pages and our platforms may use cookies or similar technology to make forms work, remember your session, and measure which pages help. You can control cookies through your browser settings. We use the Meta Pixel on our pages to see which ads lead to visits and orders. It may set cookies and share page-visit events with Meta. You can limit this through your browser settings, by blocking third-party cookies, or through your Facebook ad preferences.

11. Children

Our education is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. We will post the new version on this page. Significant changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated where appropriate.
